FOCUS WEEK 2012
This years focus week was to celebrate the Olympic Torch passing through the Rhondda. In year 3 we have learnt about the Olympics and all the different events. We also found out about a different country who takes part in the Olympics. We found out lots about the Caribbean Island of Jamaica. We completed lots of map work and geographical comparisons.
On Monday Sebastian Adams represented Year 3 carrying our torch through Gelli to pass onto Ton Infant pupils. We also all took part in a Jamaican Steel band.
On the Tuesday, Year 3 ventured to Treorchy Comprehensive to take part in the fun day. We also watched Cool Runnings
On Wednesday we had a fruity day. Tasting lots of fruit that is grown in Jamaica and we made some tasty fruit kebabs.
On Thursday we had our very own Caribbean Carnival. We wore our brightest colours and made carnival masks and instruments.
On Friday we had an Olympic fun day. Some children took part in the Cluster sports. A superb effort from all Year 3 participates. Our corner spry teams were superb and our runners were untouchable!!!! The rest of the class continued the fun with a sponsored bounce on the bouncy castle and a game of rounders, as well as being taught by a professional dance company 'Foot Loose'.
A fun filled week of events with super behaviour and effort from all of the class!!
